Student Research Opportunities

Each year (early January) we interview undergraduate students for laboratory positions. Please inquire in December for the openings in the following year and to sign up for an interview. We limit the number of trainees in the laboratory so the staff can keep the experience high quality. Our past undergraduate/graduate student lab trainees are now in medical schools such as Northwestern, Medical College of Georgia, Wake Forest, and University of Alabama. Students have been funded for trips to national meetings such as the American Heart Association, the NIH/Life Foundation Research Initiatives Annual Meeting, and Experimental Biology. Assistance with applications for scholarships/awards is offered. For instance, the 2001 student receives a salary stipend from a competitive award from the Lifeline Foundation. After acquisition of significant experience many students are offered paid positions within the lab, even while still students.
