Center for Hepatobiliary Disease

Hepatobiliary disease refers to a disorder of the liver and/or biliary tract and pancreas. Patients with this type of condition can be seen by hepatologists, surgeons, oncologists, gastroenterologists, pathologists and interventional radiologists who evaluate and treat patients for benign and malignant conditions of the liver, biliary tree and pancreas. Surgical hepatobiliary diseases include:

  • Primary and metastatic liver tumors
  • Cystic disease of the liver
  • Gall bladder and bile duct tumors
  • Biliary stricture and injuries
  • Benign liver masses
  • Other diseases of the liver
  • Benign and malignant tumors of the pancreas
  • Portal hypertension

The Center for Hepatobiliary Disease at the University of Florida provides  a full range of minimally invasive procedures and surgical procedures  to treat liver and biliary tract conditions. Our surgeons specialize in disorders of the liver and biliary tree and are very experienced in dealing with these complex problems. As many other groups have pointed out, better surgical results are obtained for complex procedures at centers with more experience. Our surgeons perform over 200 major hepatobiliary cases per year and our results are comparable to the best in the world.
