Thoracic & Cardiovascular Surgery
Faculty
members in the Division of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery
offer a wide range of surgical procedures for congenital,
traumatic, infectious, and other acquired diseases of the chest.
The focus of the division is generally on the heart and the
great vessels of the chest and non-cardiac thoracic conditions
involving the lungs, esophagus and mediastinum.
The division's goal is to
provide complete surgical care for disease of the chest and to
fully support the patient population and referring physicians in
the Southeast. To achieve this goal, the division engages in outstanding basic science and
clinical research, medical student and resident teaching, local and national administrative
leadership, and preoperative, intraoperative and postoperative patient care.
