Dr. Copeland
The Department of Surgery at the University of Florida has a long history of greatness. During its 50 years, we have only had three Chairmen, which attests to the stability of our Program. During this time, two hundred individuals have finished our program. Many have moved into prominence in both private practice and academic medicine. Dr. Kirby Bland is Chair of the Department of Surgery at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and Dr. Patrick O'Leary at Louisiana State University in New Orleans. Likewise, many of our faculty have filled leadership positions in both academic and national circles. Dr. Edward M. Copeland, III is President of the American College of Surgeons, Dr. Timothy Flynn is Chairman of the American Board of Surgery, and Dr. William G. Cance
is Vice President of the Society of Surgical Oncology, a
position that leads to the Presidency of this organization. Come
join our nationally acclaimed program and become a part of its
bright future.
