Research in the Department of Surgery
Research interests in the
Department of Surgery are diverse.
Fundamental and translational research is being conducted in the fields
of cancer biology, inflammation and innate immunity, host-pathogen interaction,
mechanical forces and cell proliferation, and cell signaling pathways.
Clinical research is being conducted in the
fields of organ transplantation, hepatobiliary surgery, vascular surgery, burn
injury and scarring, neonatal ventilation and palatoplasty.
The Department of Surgery collaborates
closely with the Departments of Molecular Genetics and Microbiology,
Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, and Cell Biology and Anatomy, which are in
the College of Medicine, as well as the Department of Biomedical Engineering in
the College of Engineering.
