Welcome

Welcome to the UF Division of General Surgery. The division is organized in six organ-based service lines that offer surgical care of benign and malignant diseases.

· Pancreatic and Biliary Surgery

· Colorectal Surgery

· Minimally Invasive Gastroesophageal Surgery

· Skin, Soft Tissue, Breast and Endocrine Surgery

· Trauma and Critical Care

· Burn and Hand Surgery

Faculty in the division have expertise in diagnosing, treating and caring for burn/trauma patients, GI patients, and cancer patients. Team members include burn surgeons, trauma surgeons, colorectal surgeons, surgical oncologists, critical care specialists, GI surgeons and surgeons who specialize in minimally invasive procedures. Our team works with other health care professionals including plastic and reconstructive surgeons, anesthesiologists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, clinical nutritional specialists, psychologists, and social workers, as well as pastoral care support personnel.

We have a unified approach to cancer care, with teams of physicians who work together to guide each patient through diagnosis, treatment, and recovery. We have a team devoted to diagnosing and treating breast cancer, another focuses on colorectal cancer, yet another concentrates on pancreatic and liver tumors.

A recently expanded multidisciplinary Bariatric surgery program offers a surgical option for the treatment of morbid obesity when other measures have been unsuccessful. Our colorectal surgical team has recently grown to include two fellowship-trained colorectal surgeons, who specialize in minimally invasive procedures.

The division strives to excel at its three missions: patient care, research and education.
